In the 2016 parliamentary elections in Iceland, the Pirate Party celebrated its largest ever electoral success, winning 14.5 percent of the popular vote and securing 10 of the 63 seats in the Althing. While the Icelandic Pirate Party is now considered the most successful Pirate Party in Europe, the result could have turned out even better. Iceland gets new govt, could restart EU talks

"In the Oct. 29 election, the radical Pirate Party, which calls for direct democracy and digital freedom, tripled its vote and won 10 parliamentary seats. But many Icelanders also voted for continuity, in the form of Benediktsson's Independents, who had formed part of the previous coalition government. Orion provided a brief hisotyr of CA Pirate Party from 2012 until now. Laura nominated bbridge to moderate the meeting. After some brief discussion, we decided on moving forward with interim officer positions (which will be revisited in 6 months).
